Bake Sale- March 2006
Following our first visit to Al Ishraq School in July 2005 we decided we needed to do some fund-raising to support projects we wanted to undertake on our return to Sri Lanka. So in March 2006 Aerian organised a bake sale in the lower school at the American School in London. Aerian was supported by the 1st grade teachers who agreed to support this fundraiser with their classes. The room mothers from each of the four 1st grade classes contacted all the other mothers in 1st grade and asked them to bake for the occasion.
On the day the tressle tables in the lower sohool reception area were groaning with heaps of wonderful cookies and cakes. The bake sale was advertised within the school and each class teacher in the lower school brought their class along so that they had the opportunity to buy. We had suggested that each child bring 50p which was enough to buy one item. In the event the parents were very generous and gave their children more than that to spend and in addition we received £10 and £20 donations directly for the school.
Some of the 4th grade girls helped with the sale on the day and in the end we made £846. A splendid effort!
